Over the last year, a number of residential developments have popped up throughout Texas that features a lagoon as one of the main amenities to attract homebuyers. Now, it appears McKinney is the next Texas city to hop on board the lagoon bandwagon. Plans for a new community of homes in McKinney were announced recently, and like many other recent developments, everything will be built around the massive lagoon.
Megatel Homes LLC, a Texas homebuilder, will be developing the new ‘Venetian Lagoon’ neighborhood in McKinney. The $450 million project will include multifamily and single-family homes ranging from 1,200 to 3,500 square feet, priced from $250,000 to $500,000, "located alongside a manmade lagoon," according to a press release. Currently, the development has secured 204 lots in the first phase, and will acquire another 1,000 lots, with possible expansion later on.
“By offering homes equipped with both the traditional top-of-the-market multifamily amenities and an idyllic, beachfront lifestyle, we are able to deliver unparalleled value to the community's residents,” said Megatel co-founder Zack Ipour. With lagoon developments already popping up in Rowlett, along with the Austin and Houston areas, it seems DFW is officially ready to get on board the lagoon movement.
