By now just about everyone has seen the video of Will Smith slapping Chris Rock at the 2022 Oscars, and of course plenty are letting their opinions be known. While normally people save their thoughts for social media, apparently this story goes far beyond that. During a recent spring training baseball game, a Los Angeles Dodgers player was booed relentlessly by the crowd, solely because his name is Will Smith.

On Thursday, the Texas Rangers faced off against the Los Angeles Dodgers in a spring training game in Arizona, when the crowd turned on a Dodgers player for a strange reason. While usually fans save their boos for rival players, this time they were letting the player know they didn’t approve of his name, Will Smith. While there aren’t many similarities, other than their name, between the athlete and the actor, the crowd clearly let their side in the Will Smith-Chris Rock drama be known.

According to Yahoo, Smith wasn’t deterred by the boos, instead using them as inspiration, as he ended up hitting a triple during the at bat. Hopefully the Will Smith drama ends soon, or the player will be hearing boos all season. However, if it each booed at bat ends in a triple, Smith will likely welcome them all season.
