Pickleball is quickly becoming one of the most popular sports in America, as many have picked up the hobby in recent years. Now, as the sport continues to grow, USA Pickleball has decided to follow another popular trend; moving from California to Texas. It was recently announced the Pickleball national championship will be moved from Southern California to North Texas for 2023.
The 2023 Pickleball national championship, hosted by USA Pickleball and Carvana Professional Pickleball Association, will take place in Farmers Branch for the first time. The tournament is expected to be the world’s largest-ever pickleball tournament, with 3,500 amateur and professional players and 25,000 spectators. According to Dallas Morning News, athletes will compete for more than $150,000 in prizes.
The event will take place in November at Brookhaven Country Club. Investor Tom Dundon claims the event will be the “biggest pickleball party in the world.” Once pickleball comes to Texas, it will only get bigger.
