2021 may not have been the best year for many, but things can always turn around in the New Year. Luckily for those in DFW, 2022 is off to a great start, as a local favorite that was expected to shut their doors has announced they will now remain open. A sign outside of The Great American Hero in Dallas has informed fans that new owners will keep the popular sandwich shop in 2022.

The Great American Hero has been serving sandwiches to DFW for 47 years. However, last summer the sandwich shop on Lemmon Avenue in Dallas informed customers they planned to close down. While many were disappointed, news was shared recently that new owners had purchased the restaurant, keeping it open for the foreseeable future.

While not many details have been shared at this time, the sign outside the restaurant claims the Great American Hero will reopen in January, according to Dallas Observer. Many locals were thrilled with the news, thinking they may never get their favorite sandwich again. Hopefully more local favorites that have shut down will return in 2022.
