It’s not too often we get royalty around these parts, but one North Texan just received an incredible honor in Brussels.

Keith Schlabs, co-owner of the Flying Saucer, was made an honorary knight of the Knighthood of the Brewers’ Paddle which, according to the Dallas Morning News, is a Belgian tradition that recognizes people who have contributed to the country’s beer culture.

Now does this mean Schlabs will start carrying around a sword and we must all address him as “Sir Keith?” Probably not, but it’s an incredible honor bestowed on only 19 people this year.

Schlabs said of the honor, “They recognized my 32 years of dedication to their traditions. For 32 years, I have been a part of that world and we have been selling their beers and paying attention to the details.”

Schlabs, along with his partners Shannon Wynne and Larry Richardson, currently operates 11 Flying Saucer locations in Texas (three in North Texas), Arkansas, North Carolina and Tennessee.

He and Wynne also operate Rodeo Goat, with 10 locations in DFW and one in Houston.
