Usually when a family’s pet goes missing, it’s a dog or a cat they are looking for. However, for one family in North Texas, their pet is one not too many have experience corralling. The family recently lost their pet kangaroo after it escaped its enclosure and now many are trying to help find the neighborhood celebrity.

On Tuesday, Bri Lafleur of Hood County noticed her three year old kangaroo named Nigel was no longer in its enclosure. The kangaroo was startled by a loud noise and jumped over the fenced of their backyard. Now, many have joined in checking the 220 acres of wooded hills, prairie and brush just outside Granbury for the missing pet.

“He's my best friend. I've had him for years he sleeps in bed with me every night," said Lafleur who hasn’t been able to sleep since Nigel went missing. According to CBS DFW, the kangaroo has been spotted, though no one been able to get close. Hopefully Nigel returns home safely and can get back to living the life of a domesticated kangaroo.
