For years, school bullies have tortured other kids by threatening to steal their lunch money. However, for one school in Joshua, it wasn’t the bullies the kids were worried about, it was the teachers. Four teachers in Joshua recently resigned after admitting to abusing the school’s free lunch program by making kids use the program to get food for teachers.

Earlier this year, Joshua Independent School District announced their students would have an option for free lunches thanks to the National School Lunch Program that helps students whose families are affected by food insecurity. However, it appears a group of teachers from Joshua Elementary School decided to use the program to their advantage, having students with packed lunches use their lunch card to get free food for staff members. “This practice occurred consistently throughout the school year and was captured on District security cameras,” said Joshua ISD.

According to Fort Worth Star Telegram, all four teachers admitted to the violation and resigned. It is unknown if the district will take further legal action at this time. At least now the students can go back to hiding their lunch money from other students.
