The ocean is home to some very strange looking creatures. While most are harmless, some have the ability to put fear in just about anyone. Luckily for two paddleboarders in California, the massive “bizarre looking” fish they encountered recently wasn’t looking to hurt them, however its looks were enough to terrify the internet.

During a recent trip off the coast of Laguna Beach, Rich German and Matt Wheaton encountered something they had never seen before. A massive sunfish, also known as a mola mola, swam right under their paddleboards, creating an incredible viral photo. The “bizarre looking” fish stunned many online, who like the paddleboarders; had never seen anything like it.

“We were just paddling and all of a sudden we were like ‘Oh my god.’ That thing was massive. Most of my encounters are with dolphins and whales, but you never know what you’re going to see,” said German. The paddleboarders estimated the sunfish at around 9 feet long, according to Bro Bible. While the most feared animal in the ocean is usually the shark, this fish may give them a run for their money.
