For most, Memorial Day weekend is the official start of summer, but here in Texas many get things started a little early each year by kicking off summer during Texas Jeep Weekend. The annual event took place this weekend at Crystal Beach in Galveston County, and as usual things got a little rowdy. Now, authorities say they made over 200 arrests due to Public drunkenness and disorderly conduct during Texas Jeep Weekend.

While Texas Jeep Weekend is an unofficial event, the annual beach meetup has become one of the most popular party weekends the Lone Star state has to offer. What started as a way for Jeep enthusiasts to meet up has grown into a full blown beach party filled with music and drinking. This year, the event ran from Thursday to Sunday and about 230 arrests were made during the festivities, according to CNN.

“This event is usually very taxing on our resources,” said Maj. Ray Nolen. The Galveston County Sheriff’s Office claims they spent three months preparing for the event. Hopefully next year more people are able to keep their partying under control.
