Most fathers just want to find a way to spend more time with their kids. Peter Hook is no different, but luckily for the former Joy Division and New Order member, he and his son have a shared interest; music. Hook recently shared a new version of a classic Joy Division song, with his son jamming along with him.
The new version of ‘Ceremony’ has Hook’s son Jack Bates on bass, along with Smashing Pumpkins’ guitarist Jeff Schroeder and drummer Shane Graham. Each part was done remotely and later stitched together, according to NME. The new version of the song was done for Sweet Relief Musicians Fund’s recent online fundraiser ‘For The Crew.’
‘Ceremony’ was initially written by Joy Division, but was not released before frontman Ian Curtis’ death in 1980, later becoming the first single for New Order in 1981. Fans have been praising this new version, especially enjoying the father-son dynamic. Hopefully more covers from them are on the way.
