There is no better way to show off one's fandom for their favorite band or musician than wearing a t-shirt featuring the group or artist. Luckily for Joy Division fans, there is a new t shirt being sold featuring the band's debut album artwork. Artist Peter Saville recently released the new Joy Division 'Unknown Pleasures' t-shirt as part of Music Declares Emergency's 'Turn Up The Volume' campaign.
Peter Saville has created a number of iconic album covers over the years, most notably for Joy Division and New Order, but his most iconic is arguably the first one he did; Joy Division's debut album 'Unknown Pleasures.' Now, Saville has reworked his design for the new t-shirt being sold to support Music Declares Emergency's 'No Music On A Dead Planet.' According to NME, the campaign will run through this week, which includes Earth Day on April 22.
The album artwork was originally designed based on an image of radio waves, but the reworked image now appears flat and lifeless to "symbolise the eternal silence of a dead planet." Joy Division fans can purchase the shirt here. There may be no better way to prove one's love of Joy Division.
