As anyone who lives in DFW knows, it’s one of the best places in the world to live, if not the best. While that’s a fact here in the metroplex, a new report apparently thinks differently. The report claims DFW is no longer one of the top 100 places to live, after ranking it in the top 40 just last year.

U.S. News & World Report recently unveiled their annual Best Places to Live rankings for 2023-2024. To determine the rankings the report looked at data from the FBI, the U.S. Department of Labor and their own internal resources for the top 150 metros in America. Based on the data, DFW was ranked 113th on this year’s list, despite being ranked number 32 last year.

According to Dallas Culture Map, this year’s report looked at desirability, value, job market, quality of life and net migration, where DFW got an average score of 6 out of 10. Surprisingly, other Texas cities dropped in the rankings as well, including Austin, Houston and San Antonio. At least now, maybe people from other states will stop moving to Texas.
