There are two great zoos in DFW, but most of the time it’s the Fort Worth Zoo getting all the accolades. However, a recent report decided to show the Dallas Zoo some love. The report named the zoo located in Marsalis Park as one of the best in the country, while leaving the Fort Worth Zoo off the list.
Timeout.com recently unveiled their list of the 24 best zoos in the country. Surprisingly to many in DFW, Dallas Zoological Park was ranked as the fifth best zoo in America by the report. Even more shocking was the fact that the Fort Worth Zoo didn’t even make the top 24.

According to CW33, the report listed the Chimpanzee Forest, Gorilla Research Center, Koala Walkabout, Giants of the Savanna and the Penguin Cove as reasons for the high ranking. “From humble beginnings and just two deer and two mountain lions, it is now the largest and oldest zoo in Texas, providing sanctuary to more than 2,000 animals from 406 species,” said the report. Hopefully this doesn’t divide Dallas and Fort Worth even more.
