Getting stuck in an elevator is a fear that leads many to take the stairs whenever there is an opportunity. However, when traveling up one of the tallest buildings in DFW, stairs usually aren’t an option. That’s something a group of visitors to Reunion Tower learned recently after they got stuck in the elevator going up to the top of the building during a power outage.

On Sunday, rain swept through many parts of the metroplex, causing power outages for a number of buildings, including Reunion Tower in Downtown Dallas. The building’s power went out around 5:30 P.M., and sadly there was a group riding up the glass-windowed elevator at that time. According to CBS DFW, Dallas Fire Rescue responded to the scene as fire crews were able to open the doors and get the people inside put into an interior staircase after about an hour.

Luckily, no one was hurt during the power outage. The group was just floors from the top of the building when they got stuck. After this experience, those people may want to use the stairs next time they have the option.
