The main job of a police officer is to protect and serve, no matter who the person in danger is. Apparently that duty goes beyond humans, as a police officer in Richardson showed off his work ethic recently by helping a family of ducklings. In the video that has since gone viral, the officer helps the ducks cross the street; making sure they make it to the other side safely.

Over the weekend, the Richardson Police Department shared a video of one of their officers trailing behind a family of ducklings crossing the street, ensuring no cars harm the group. “Everyone needs a little help sometimes,” the police department captioned the now viral video. After crossing the street, the police officer wasn’t done, waiting for animal control to come take the ducks to a safer area away from the road.

Many comments were praising the officer, with one saying “Aww such a sweet thing to do for this mama and her babies. Stay safe and thank you." Hopefully the group of ducks will remember to stay away from the road in the future.
