Matthew Choi is a running influencer from Austin who recently competed in the New York Marathon.

According to NBC News, he posted a time of 2:57:15 at a pace of 6.44/mile, until race officials officially disqualified him and subsequently banned him from competing in future New York Marathons?

The reason?  Well, influencers gonna do what influencers gonna do, and Choi had a couple of people on e-bicycles following and filming him during the race for his social media pages.

Having someone follow you on bikes is a big no-no for the NY Marathon.

Choi issued an apology on his Instagram stating, "We endangered other runners, we impacted people going for PB's [personal bests], we blocked people from getting water. And with the New York City Marathon being about everyone else, and about the community, I made it about myself. And for anyone I impacted, I'm sorry."

Choi did say he has the opportunity to appeal his ban, but revealed he has no plans to do so.  "I made my bed, so I'm gonna lay in it," he said.
