The State Fair of Texas is one month away from opening day, and as if North Texans weren’t excited enough already, the winners of the Big Tex Choice Awards were just announced. Every year, some of the craziest food concoctions the fair has to offer come from the food competition and this year is no different. All three winners will be available for fairgoers to try at this year’s event.
On Sunday, judges for the Big Tex Choice Awards selected the winning foods for this year’s State Fair. According to NBC DFW, there were three categories; a savory winner, a sweet winner and a most creative winner. For the savory category, the winning dish was the Deep Fried Pho, which mixes the southern tradition of fried food with traditional Vietnamese comfort food.
The sweet category winner was the Biscoff Delight, while the most creative winner was also a sweet dish, the Bourbon Banana Carmel Sopapillas. The State Fair of Texas will open this year on September 29. Now, people just have to figure out which they want to try first.
