The State Fair of Texas is only a few weeks away from opening day, which means social media will soon be flooded of photos of people standing in front of Big Tex. However, this year the 55-foot cowboy may look a little different. That’s because on Friday, the State Fair of Texas unveiled a new Dickies shirt they will put on Big Tex for this year’s fair.
Big Tex has been sporting Dickies apparel for the past 20 years, but after three years in his previous shirt, the fair thought it was time to give the beacon of Fair Park a new look. According to WFAA, the new shirt was unveiled on Friday and features something Big Tex is yet to wear, fringe sleeves. Officials claim the new shirt is made of durable, wind and flame-resistant material.

Big Tex’s outfit is updated every three years due to harsh outdoor elements. Along with the fringe sleeves, the new shirt also features stars aligning the chest. With this new look, Big Tex is definitely ready for the State Fair of Texas to open.
