Picking a pet name can be a difficult task. Some like to name their cat after someone or something, while others just like to pick a normal or goofy name. Now a new study has found the most popular cat names in every state, and the biggest surprise came right here in Texas. The study found that of all the names people could choose to name their cat, the most popular name in Texas is simply “Kitty.”
Pet-sitting platform TrustedHousesitters recently conducted a study of over 50,000 pet names registered on their platform to determine each state’s most popular cat name. Across the nation, Luna was the most popular cat name choice, with Charlie, Leo, Max, Milo, Jack, Lucy, Bella, Sophie, and Stella all popping up frequently. However, the biggest surprise came in Texas, where the most common cat name was “Kitty.”
According to Newsweek, Texas was the only state to have that as the most popular name for their cats. Other strange names that popped up on the list were ones based on food like Pickles, Bean, Peanut, Taco, Sushi, and Pumpkin. This study is yet another great example of what makes Texas different than everywhere else.
