While most of us would consider the entire month of Halloween “spooky season,” according to a new study from smart home security company Vivint, there are four cities in Texas that keep things spooky year-round.
The study looked at 74 U.S. cities to determine America’s spookiest destinations, analyzing factors like reported ghost sightings, haunted places, haunted house attractions, paranormal-related businesses, and spooky Google search activity.
Austin landed at No. 8, San Antonio came in at No. 11, Houston at No. 15, and Dallas at No. 18.
Texas claimed all three top spots for reported ghost sightings, with Austin leading the nation at 115 reported sightings, followed by Dallas with 64, then Houston with 48.
The top ten spookiest cities in the nation include:
1 – Virginia City, Nevada
2 – Tombstone, Arizona
3 – Eureka Springs, Arkansas
4 – Galena, Illinois
5 – Gettysburg, Pennsylvania
6 – Cape May, New Jersey
7 – Estes Park, Colorado
