Summer is in full swing and while many have either already gone on vacation, or have something planned in the coming months, others are still wondering how they will take advantage of their free time. Luckily, a new study is now claiming those in the Lone Star state still planning don’t have to go far to find the perfect vacation. That’s because they recently ranked Texas as the best road trip state in the country.

WalletHub recently unveiled the results of their study to find the best and worst road trip states in America. Last year, Texas faired pretty well, landing at the number three spot on the list, but this year Texas is even better for hitting the road. According to Dallas Culture Map, Texas ranked number one on this year’s list thanks to factors such as gas prices, camping costs, road safety, number of recreational activities, and more.

Following Texas on the list was New York, North Carolina, Ohio and Idaho. At the other end of the list, Rhode Island, Delaware, Connecticut, Hawaii and Montana were considered the worst for road trips. Sadly that probably means Texans can expect people from those states clogging up our roads this summer.
