There are only a few more months left of summer, which means for those that haven’t gone on vacation yet, its time to start planning something before it’s too late. Luckily, here in Texas there are plenty of great weekend getaways that won’t break the bank. That was proven recently by a new study that named Texas the third best road trip state in America.

WalletHub recently conducted a study to find the best places for road trips throughout the country. The study looked at 32 different metrics across three categories to determine the most fun, scenic and wallet friendly road trip routes. Based on their findings, the study ranked Texas as the third best state for road trips, behind only Minnesota and New York.

According to Dallas Culture Map, Texas had a score of 56.63 thanks to being ranked fourth in activities and 18th in cost. Sadly, the Lone Star state ranked 38th in safety, lowering their score. Hopefully the study factored in Texas road trip staple Buc-ee’s, or else these rankings are flawed.
