With St. Patrick’s Day coming up next week, many are already starting to prepare for the holiday. For some that means getting a green outfit together, for others it’s coming up with the perfect drink menu. However, for Texans it means preparing their wallets for an expensive day. A new study recently revealed Texas is one of the biggest spenders on alcohol each year for St. Patrick’s Day, and this year’s holiday won’t be any different.
Time2Play recently conducted a study to see which states celebrated St. Patrick’s Day the hardest. While one list which looked at the thirstiest states in the country placed Texas in the middle of the pack, the one about spending had the Lone Star state near the top. According to CW 33, Texas ranked sixth on the list of money spent on drinking during St. Patrick’s Day. On average each person in Texas will spend about $50 on alcohol for the holiday.

Topping the list was New Jersey, will people spend on average $57.76 on alcohol. The study also found that most will be drinking beer, mixed drinks and whiskey on St. Patrick’s Day. Based on these numbers, next week should be very interesting.
