Every day it seems something new is being built in DFW. As the metroplex continues to grow, some North Texans may be wondering when all the growth will come to an end. Well, based on a new survey that will likely not be any time soon, as both Dallas and Fort Worth were recently ranked as the cities with the most vacant space in all of America.
Yardi Systems recently released the results of a survey looking for the cities with the most vacant space in the US. According to NBC DFW, Dallas ranked number one on the list with 90,739 vacant acres and Fort Worth was number two with 74,835 vacant acres. Some of these lots have been used for parking, while others have been left empty for years, but officials see it as more opportunity for future development.
“While we wish that every lot in Downtown Dallas was absolutely perfect today, we see it as a unique opportunity,” said Jennifer Scripps the president and CEO of the business group Downtown Dallas Inc. Some of these lots already have planned projects. While there is plenty of space in DFW, clearly it is starting to quickly go away.
