For years, Quentin Tarantino has discussed focusing more on writing after his directing career. He has teased the idea of writing fiction novels, and follow up stories to some of his most iconic work. Now, it appears the director has taken steps towards this next career path, signing a two book deal with Harper, the HarperCollins imprint.

The first of Quentin Tarantino’s two books will be a fiction novel version of his Oscar nominated film, ‘Once Upon A Time In Hollywood.’ The novel version will reportedly add depth to the story and characters portrayed in the film. The book will be available in paperback, e-book and digital audio, along with a hardcover edition to follow in the fall.

The second book Tarantino plans to write will be a nonfiction book described as a “deep dive into the movies of the 1970’s, a rich mix of essays, reviews, personal writing, and tantalizing ‘what if’s,’ from one of cinema’s most celebrated filmmakers, and its most devoted fan.” While many fans hope this doesn’t derail Tarantino’s movie career, it will give fans plenty more content to obsess over.
