Earlier this week, it was announced that Anna ISD would be making the switch to a 4 day school week, joining a number of other DFW school districts. Now, one more can be added to the list as Terrell ISD recently announced they would be making the switch as well. Starting with the 2023-2024 school year, Terrell ISD students will only be in class Monday through Thursday.
In a move to recruit and retain teachers, Terrell ISD will soon adopt a four day school week. “This decision comes after hosting a number of calendar committee meetings, conducting extensive research on the impact and characteristics of the four-day week, surveying both parents and staff members and attending seminars to learn from those districts who have implemented the four-day school week model,” said a spokesperson for the district.

Their survey found that 70% of parents favored the four day work week, while 92% if teachers were in favor of the changes, according to NBC DFW. While campus will be closed on Fridays, students are expected to participate in independent learning. Hopefully these changes work, and help both students and teachers.
