It wasn’t enough for Tesla to have autonomous rideshare vehicles. The company just launched a new line of “Cybercabs” in Austin, that contain no steering wheels or pedals.
The cabs debuted yesterday at an invite-only event in the city, where guests included “selected Robotaxi riders and sweepstakes winners,” according to the Associated Press.
While Tesla already has an autonomous rideshare presence in Austin, these new Cybercabs have no steering wheels or pedals. Elon Musk posted online that the vehicles “are designed and built for maximally efficient autonomous operation.”
Cybercabs can be booked for public use beginning this evening, Friday September 4, at 5pm.
