No one likes losing money, but these days there are plenty of ways for people to get tricked into handing their cash over to someone else. As technology continues to improve, so do the ways scammers try to dupe people into giving them money. Now, a new report is claiming Texans have lost over $606 million to internet scams.

Online dating investigation service Social Catfish recently released a report on the states that have lost the most money to internet scams. While California took the top spot on the list, Texas came in at number two, according to CW33. “A record $6.9 billion was lost to online scams in 2021 according to the FBI IC3. This is up nearly double from $3.5 billion in 2019,” said the report. Following Texas on the list were New York, Florida and Pennsylvania. With scams popping up left and right, hopefully Texans start to be more careful.
