The DeLorean may have reached icon status thanks to its use in the ‘Back to the Future’ franchise, but now that the world has reached the future, one man has decided it was time to bring the DeLorean into the future as well. Earlier this year it was reported a Texas-based company was rebooting the DeLorean and turning it into a modern electric vehicle. Now, the first images of the new car have been shared and many are already obsessing over its new-age look.

When mechanic Stephen Wynne purchased the DeLorean brand name and a stock of original factory parts, his intention was to restore the classic car at his shop in Humble, Texas. However, with electric vehicles becoming more and more popular, Wynne decided it was time for the classic car to make a comeback. Wynne recently shared the first images of the new car, and while there is plenty of nostalgia, the car definitely has a new look.

According to Fox News, the animation released by Wynne shows the front of the car with its classic gullwing doors. However, the new version appears to have a silver and black color scheme, with a more modern design style. Sadly, the full reveal won’t happen until August, so fans will just have to wait and see for the rest.
