Texas county declares state of emergency ahead of April's total solar eclipse

You ask most people around the state of Texas, they're excited about the upcoming total solar eclipse in April.  It's history right before our very eyes (as long as you're wearing proper eclipse glasses)!

However, one county in the Lone Star State is more in a state of preparation for the droves of people that will descend onto Texas to get the best view of the eclipse for themselves.

Bell County Judge David Blackburn has declared a "state of emergency" for his county, believing that the amount of people that will travel to Bell County for the eclipse will "put a serious strain on the county's infrastructure."

According to FOX 44, the emergency declaration will allow the Bell County Office of Emergency Management to communicate easier with the State Department of Emergency Management, if necessary.

It also means that property owners in unincorporated areas of Bell County must register any plans to host watch parties, dry camping, or other large-scale events.

Judge Blackburn has already encouraged Bell County's more than 1,200 employees to stay home because of the expected increase in traffic, and he also suggested that people take care of all their errands, such as grocery shopping and buying gas, a few days before the eclipse.

The total solar eclipse will occur April 8.
