One of the biggest misconceptions people from other states make about Texans is that they believe many are still riding horseback everywhere they go. While there are many parts of Texas that still resembles the wild west, most of the state is just like everywhere else. However, one Texas man is doing what he can to make sure this fallacy never ends, as he recently quit his job to travel to Seattle on horseback.
Cyril Bertheau recently set out on an adventure that will see him travel from Austin to Seattle on horseback. To prepare for the journey, Bertheau recently quit his six figure job and purchased a horse named Shiok on Craigslist. According to Fox News, the trip is expected to take 100 days to get from Zilker Park in Austin to Seattle, Washington.
"It's a family tradition for each one of the oldest sons of my family on my dad's side, the Bertheau, to do a great big adventure. And it's kind of a rite of passage, if you will," said Bertheau. On the trip, Bertheau will travel through New Mexico, Colorado, Wyoming, Montana and Idaho. Maybe after the trip is done, he will be ready to give up driving and start going everywhere on horseback.
