Authorities are calling it the “largest stolen avocado recovery” ever executed in the history of Hill County.

According to Chron, the Laredo Police Department was notified of an 18-wheeler that could be connected to a theft of avocados from Mexico.

After locating and securing the potential vehicle involved in the crime, police officers opened the back and discovered they were correct.  Inside the truck were more than 34,000 stolen avocados!

The Hill County Sheriff’s Office wrote in a post on Facebook, “We believe this to be the largest stolen avocado recovery in the history of Hill County and it was certainly Deputy Hardy's largest stolen avocado recovery of his career.”

The sheriff’s office also added, “No avocados were harmed during this incident."
