Adding bacon to a dish makes just about every meal better. Whether it’s included on a breakfast plate, wrapped around a piece of food or even simply used as a side dish, it’s hard for most to turn down the menu option that includes bacon. Now, a town in Texas wants to honor the legendary food item by changing their name to Bacon City, USA.
The city of Vernon, near the Texas panhandle, recently announced plans to change their name in honor of Wright Brand Bacon, which was conceived in Vernon years ago. Sadly, the name change will only be temporary as it will take affect September 16th and last through the weekend. To go along with the temporary name change, the city will also be looking for a new mayor to preside over Bacon City, USA.
According to CW33, those hoping to become mayor can apply by submitting a one-minute video detailing their qualifications. Applications will be accepted through July 31. While the job won’t last long, at least the person selected will be able to brag about their time as mayor of Bacon City, USA to all their friends.
