While there are many factors that can affect business, in the end a company’s success usually comes down to one major component; supply and demand. That’s why the Dallas Zoo recently decided to create a product using something they definitely have a surplus of. The zoo recently announced they have teamed up with a Fort Worth based company to create “zoo poo,” manure that’s made from the animals at the zoo.
“Zoo poo” is a new 100% organic product that is available for sale in the Dallas Zoo's gift shop, according to WFAA. Along with the manure provided by the animals, the “zoo poo” is also made with hay and bedding from the zoo. While the Dallas Zoo is providing all the supplies, they have teamed up with Fort Worth-based composting facility Silver Creek Materials to help create the new compost product that can be used in home gardens.

The zoo will use waste from herbivores like giraffes, elephants and hippos for the new product. Not only will this help the zoo divert one million pounds of herbivore waste from the landfill, but a portion of the sales will go towards conservation efforts. Soon gardens all throughout DFW will smell like the Dallas Zoo.
