As technology continues to improve, it seems more and more car companies and customers have begun to shift towards electric vehicles. Just about every major car brand is either promoting their next electric car, or announcing plans to create one, and now one of the most iconic car brands from the past is making a comeback to join in on the movement. It was recently announced that the DeLorean will soon make its return as an electric sports car, and will be manufactured in Texas.
While the DeLorean has remained relevant thanks to its spot as one of the most iconic movie cars of all-time due to its role in ‘Back to the Future,’ it hasn’t been in production since the 80s. However, a few years back it returned as a restoration and service outfit in Humble, Texas thanks to English mechanic Stephen Wynne. Wynne acquired both the brand name and a stock of original factory parts to maintain the cult classics, and now wants to start producing the vehicles in a new way.

According to Fox News, the company recently released a teaser trailer for the vehicle expected to debut later this year. Not many details were shared about the new car, but the post included hashtags for “electric vehicle” and “luxury.” Hopefully the electric engine doesn’t take away the car’s ability to time travel.
