There are a number of cars that have reached icon status thanks to their inclusion in a beloved movie or television series. Whether it’s the General Lee from ‘Dukes of Hazzard,’ the DeLorean from ‘Back to the Future,’ K.I.T.T from ‘Knight Rider’ or the many different vehicles used by James Bond over the years, fans of these franchises will do whatever they can to take home their own version of these iconic cars. Now, yet another beloved movie vehicle is going up for sale, as the Porsche used by Tom Cruise in ‘Risky Business’ is set for auction.
The gold Porsche 928s being sold at auction is one of four vehicles that were used by Tom Cruise in his 1983 film, ‘Risky Business.’ According to Fox News, the vehicle will be sold at a Barrett-Jackson event in Houston next month. Made in 1979, the Porsche being sold was the film’s “hero car” used for wide driving shots. The car is also where Cruise gives his iconic “Porsche, there is no substitute" line.
Previously auctioned off in 2012 for $49,000, the vehicle has racked up over 100,000 miles over the years. However, they now go for around $70,000 as it has been fully restored to its on-screen appearance for the auction. For fans of ‘Risky Business’ this car is a must have.
