Texas has seen a number of new residents move into the state over the last few years. There are many reasons people have chosen to relocate to the Lone Star state in recent years; jobs, taxes, real estate and so much more. However, now a new factor can be added to the list; retirement. Forbes recently unveiled their list of the best places to retire in 2021, and two Texas cities made the list.
According to Forbes, the best places to retire in Texas are College Station and San Antonio. Some of the factors that made these cities ideal for retirement were their low median home price, absence of state income tax and inheritance tax, along with having good air quality and being bicycle friendly.
Forbes also pointed out College Station’s abundance of doctors and San Antonio’s cultural scene as reasons to retire there, according to Click2Houston.
Of course, there were some negatives to note as well, such as crime rates in San Antonio, and the walkability of College Station. Still, Forbes found these locations to be as ideal as possible for retirement. Maybe one day there will be a reason for people to leave Texas.
