Police in Mesquite are currently investigating a crime that could possibly end up being the plot of a movie one day. Over the weekend, someone broke into the Town East Mall, stealing around $2 million worth of jewelry. The thief was able to break through a concrete wall in an abandoned Sears to get to the jewelry.

On Saturday, an employee of American Jewelers at the Town East Mall got to work to find someone had broken in and stolen a large amount of jewelry. According to WFAA, someone was able to break into the old Sears store and breach a concrete wall between the Sears and the jewelry store. Police did not say what time they believe the break-in happened, or if the theft was by an individual or a group.

Mall security is currently working with police to get any surveillance video from inside the mall. Now, the store will take extra precautions to keep their jewelry safe, included locking up the jewelry in a safe at night. Hopefully police are able to find the criminals, so the inevitable movie about the theft can have an ending.
