For many in Texas, football is king, but there is another sport that has a long history in the lone star state; baseball. While Friday nights are reserved for football, summer baseball holds a special place in the hearts of many Texans. Now, a new viral map shows the favorite sport in every state, and finally settles the football vs baseball debate in Texas.
According to the map, baseball is the preferred sport of Texas. However, overall football was the most popular sport throughout the country. All four major American sports were represented on the map, football, basketball, baseball and hockey, with some states choosing college athletics over professional.
The survey, done by MyProtein, found each states favorite sport by analyzing ticket sales through Vivid Seats and Wikipedia searches in the area. The survey also found each state’s hometown hero, with Lance Armstrong being selected for Texas. Maybe if they Dallas Cowboys have a better season in 2021, football will make it to the top of the list.
