There are many different meaningful honors a musician can be awarded throughout their career. While winning a Grammy is the pinnacle for many artists, winning a different award is nothing to be ashamed of, even if that award comes from Waffle House. The breakfast restaurant apparently has their own music award show, handing out trophies for the top songs played on their restaurant jukebox every year.
The 2020 Waffle House Tunie Awards took place recently, and one of the big winners this year was Lynyrd Skynyrd, taking home the Lifetime Achievement Award, and even making a virtual appearance to accept the award.
Another popular name taking home a Waffle House Tunie this year was avid breakfast fan Kid Rock, who won the Waffle House Legend Award. Three Doors Down was also a winner, being named the Top Alternative Rock Band.
The Top song played at Waffle House was a repeat winner, as Chris Stapleton’s ‘Tennessee Whiskey’ took home the top spot last year as well. Other songs landing in the top 10 include; ‘Hotel California’ by the Eagles and ‘Can’t Feel My Face’ by The Weeknd. Hopefully some more artists can take home a Waffle House award next year.
