Technology has made many aspects of life easier over the years, but sadly it has also made life easier for criminals in many ways. One DFW woman learned that the hard way recently when trying to make a simple purchase at her local gas station. The woman discovered a credit card skimmer hiding in plain sight, and luckily she filmed the incident for the world to see.
Nyshje Rattler was inside a gas station convenient store in McKinney recently when she made a shocking discovery. Rattler attempted to make a purchase only to be told her card was declined. After calling her bank, Rattler discovered her bank account had been “wiped clean” and went back to the store to see if she could find an explanation.

According to NBC DFW, Rattler discovered the credit card reader inside the store looked off, and found a fake cover sitting on top of the machine. “I compared the two and I noticed that the one I grabbed was bulkier on the side, kind of sticking out. It wasn’t flat like they said. So, I just lifted it up and it came up,” said Rattler. McKinney Police are now investigating the incident, but thanks to Rattler the world now knows to take a second look before inserting their credit card.
