Many Texans had the right to be upset on Monday as the world’s largest Buc-ee’s opened in Tennessee. While the title won’t last long, as an even bigger Buc-ee’s location is currently under construction in Luling, Texas, for now the title is no longer in the hands of the Lone Star state. Luckily, the state can now claim a new Buc-ee’s honor, as the world’s smallest Buc-ee’s that went viral last year has returned to West Texas.
Back in 2022, a tiny Buc-ee’s location went viral that was located along U.S. 90, about halfway between Sanderson and Marathon. The fake Buc-ee’s store was removed after only a few days, but is now back with a few additions. According to Chron, the Buc-ee's now has a historical marker and a QR code to support the artist behind the installation's future projects and legal defense.
The plaque near the world’s smallest Buc-ee’s claims the original location went away due to a "shift to e-commerce, rising gas prices, and a worldwide Beaver Nugget shortage." Of course, it is unknown how long the new location will last without employees, clean bathrooms or road trip snacks. For now, at least Texas can claim “everything’s smaller in Texas.”
