Wolfgang once again performs all of the instrumentation himself on the upcoming Mammoth WVH release set for August 4, telling us earlier this year, "It's what Mammoth is; people try to turn it into a negative, like a control thing, but this is my outlet."
On the newest single, "Take a Bow," Wolfie stepped into the shadow of his late father, guitar virtuoso Eddie Van Halen, utilizing his red, black, and white-taped Fender "Frankenstrat" setup that he became known for, as well as the same amplifier setup that he used in early Van Halen recordings.
"He's the reason why I do what I do; I wouldn't exist if it wasn't for him, so that's certainly very important," Wolfgang explained.
Clocking in at almost seven minutes, Eddie's spirit and legendary guitar's presence are fully felt around halfway through, with a crippling solo complete with epic finger-tapping a la EVH. Wolfie also told Johnathan Graham at Guitar Interactive magazine recently that he felt the track was “really special," adding the setup he used was "straight up what [Eddie] used on the earliest Van Halen records. It makes me happy to capture some of Dad’s history on this song forever.” Listen to the new single above.
Mammoth WVH's forthcoming album Mammoth II is set for release on August 4. Pre-orders are available now. Wolfie is also currently on tour with Alter Bridge -- Grab your tickets right HERE.
