A little extra cash is something we could all use right about now. It makes the world go ‘round, though conversations about it can often be taboo.

The goal of the creators of a new museum debuting in downtown Dallas want to change that notion and hope they can spark conversations about cash and financial reality.

The MoMoney: Museum of Money is the world’s only interactive museum of money, and it recently debuted in Dallas in the historic Dallas West End.

The museum is the brainchild of Houss El Marabti and Subhi Gharbieh, both of whom have backgrounds in real estate and finance, and the creative force behind bringing the Museum of Illusions to Dallas and other cities in Texas.

Marabti told the Dallas Morning News, “We all go to school to get a job, to get money and we know how to spend it. But there isn’t a lot of education that comes with knowing how to save it, how to manage it, how to invest it. And it always feels difficult, but it shouldn’t.”

Marabit continued saying, “We wanted to make money more approachable and do it in a fun, interactive way that makes people feel like they’re playing a game.”

He said he hopes that visitors will leave with a nugget of knowledge “that might make a difference.”

The MoMoney: Museum of Money is open Sunday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. at 501 Elm St. in Dallas.
