A San Francisco based company has developed a surface testing kit for the coronavirus.
“It's a way of knowing whether or not the virus is present indoors, and has been brought in by people who are symptomatic or asymptomatic,” said Dr. Jessica Green, CEO and founder of the company Phylagen, which developed the test.
In order to get more people indoors during the pandemic, surfaces need to be clean. This test would help ensure that, Dr. Green told KCBS Radio.
“Using that information, you can decide where to clean, where to clean more regularly, and also implement protocols like targeted human diagnostic testing,” Dr. Green said.
Phylagen has been able to detect the coronavirus in unlikely places, including the top of a vending machine.
