A Washington man, who was granted clemency by former Gov. Jay Inslee (D) in 2019, was arrested on Thursday on nearly a dozen drug and weapons charges.
According to the Lynwood Times, Percy Levy, 54, was arrested after a 16-month investigation was conducted by the Snohomish Regional Drug Task Force. The Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office took Levy into custody during a traffic stop last week.
Following his arrest, authorities searched Levy’s home after serving a warrant. While searching his property, detectives recovered 2,818 grams of powder cocaine, 14,7 grams of rock cocaine, 556 grams of fentanyl, and a handgun.
According to the US Drug Enforcement Agency, just 2 milligrams of fentanyl is enough to kill someone, meaning the amount Levy had at his home was enough to kill around 278,000 people.
Levy was arrested on charges of unlawful possession of a firearm, possession of a stolen firearm, and multiple counts of possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver
Online inmate records for the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office Corrections Bureau show that Levy has been charged with Class B Felony charges and is being held on a $1.5 million bond.
This is not the first time that the Washington man has found himself in legal trouble, as his criminal history dates back to when he was 13, according to the Lynwood Times. In 2002, he was sentenced to serve time behind bars after he was arrested for a drug house robbery.
He spent 17 years in prison before he was granted clemency by former Washington Gov. Inslee in 2019 after the reclassification of possession of controlled substances, according to the state’s Clemency and Pardons Board.
After his release, the paper says Levy dedicated himself to criminal justice reform, as he worked as an outreach specialist for the Washington Defender Association. He is also the treasurer for the Board of the Black Lives Matter Seattle-King County chapter.
The investigation into Levy remains ongoing at this time.
