Wrong-way crash kills five and injures one early Sunday morning in Fort Worth

A wrong-way crash in the early hours of Sunday morning has left five dead and one injured in Fort Worth, according to local authorities.

The Fort Worth Police Department shared on Sunday in a press release that units were dispatched to a “major accident call” at the 3000 block of Northwest Loop 820 Freeway, Westbound Loop 820, just after Marine Creek Parkway.

The crash involved two vehicles, one of which is currently believed to have been traveling in the wrong direction on Loop 820. Police reported that the car heading in the wrong direction collided with the other vehicle, creating a “vehicle fire and entrapment.”

Five individuals involved in the crash were pronounced dead at the scene. One individual was transported to a local hospital. The extent of their injuries was not shared by the police department.

The scene remained active at the time of this article’s publishing.

The investigation into the crash and the circumstances surrounding the incident remains ongoing. The Fort Worth Traffic Investigations Unit is assisting.
