WATCH: ICU physician documents side effects of COVID-19 vaccine
In an effort to gain her patient’s trust, a California ICU physician documented her experience with the COVID-19 vaccine via a YouTube vlog, including all of her side effects.
Vanessa Walker works at Sutter Roseville Medical Center outside Sacramento. She got the vaccine made by Pfizer Inc. and BioNTech and documented her experience every 12 hours in the hopes of easing people’s stress about the vaccine.
"I put myself out there so people can see that someone who is actively out there treating patients with COVID has faith in the medical community and all the science that went behind this amazing vaccine," Walker told FOX LA.
Walker described feeling some aches, muscle soreness and fatigue – no worse than a flu shot.
California has recorded a half-million coronavirus cases in the last two weeks and in a month could be facing a once-unthinkable caseload of nearly 100,000 hospitalizations, Governor Gavin Newsom and the state's top health official said Monday.
Walker will need to get a second dose of the vaccine and says until she does, and everyone is vaccinated, she will continue to wear a mask to protect herself, her family, her colleagues, and her patients.
As the state faces a deadly surge of cases and hospitalizations Walker tells FOX LA she is frustrated by people’s cavalier attitude about the virus.
"We feel like we’re yelling into a storm and no one is hearing us," Walker said.
