Nearly three dozen pets are in need of foster homes after a devastating fire early Friday morning in Westmoreland County.

Wendi Kraemer was sleeping when she heard a loud boom in her house along Route 51 in Rostraver. A little more than an hour later, flames had consumed her non-profit animal sanctuary.

She got 20 cats and 12 dogs out safely, but 12 cats perished. Kraemer's trying to rent temporary space for the animals and also needs help from someone with heated barn for an elderly goat in her care.

“We have these special need dogs and special need cats. We have two cat sanctuaries that I’m trying to find fosters for, but I’m going to need a lot of donations to get back to do what I do.”

Kraemer’s credit cards and money were lost in the fire. If you can help out with a donation, or foster care, call her at 412-680-0393.
