A Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen restaurant in the Pittsburgh area is under Consumer Alert after a roof leak was detected.
The Allegheny County Health Department was inspecting the Popeyes on William Penn Highway in Wilkins Township after an unrelated complaint about food.
Inspectors found the roof leak above “the front service line where fired chicken and potato fries are hot held.”
The ceiling tile was seen wet and ripping at the edges with water falling onto the front service line, in front of the fries.
The Health Department says there is evidence of a chronic roof leak above the drink dispenser and water-stained ceiling ties and calcium buildup on the wall.
A manager told inspectors the roof started leaking the morning of the inspection on February 3.
The Health Department says the leak is an imminent health hazard and issued the alert.
As for the complained, inspectors say that they tested the chicken being served and it was well above the 165-degree threshold for hot food.
As of February 6, the Consumer Alert is still active.
